Bartın University Faculty of Sports Sciences Completes Accreditation Site Visits Successfully
The site visits for the accreditation process of the "Department of Physical Education and Sports" at Bartın University (BARÜ) Faculty of Sports Sciences were successfully completed by the Sports Sciences Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Board (SPORAK). As part of the process, a closing presentation was made to BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun by the board.
Bartın University continues its efforts to obtain accreditation certificates for all undergraduate programs, which confirm the quality of education and training. Within this scope, the Coaching Education and Physical Education and Sports Teaching Programs under the Faculty of Sports Sciences were recently evaluated by SPORAK, which operates to contribute to the development of sports sciences at national and international levels.
SPORAK conducted assessments of sports sciences programs based on various criteria such as education and training, physical infrastructure, academic qualifications, and organizational and decision-making processes. The board carried out numerous observations and meetings at the Faculty of Sports Sciences.
The SPORAK Evaluation Team, chaired by Prof. Dr. Nimet Haşıl Korkmaz and including team members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Okan Burçak Çelik, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan Kurudirek, and student representative Metin Şahin, reviewed the programs and observed on-site practices related to accreditation standards.
During the site visits, team members held discussions with BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Ayla Çetin Dindar, as well as faculty members and students from the Coaching Education and Physical Education and Sports Teaching Programs.
Highlighting their commitment to embedding quality in all educational programs as part of the institution's culture, Rector Uzun stated:
"As a university, we place great importance on quality assurance processes and program accreditations through our continuous improvement approach. With our efforts in quality assurance, we support and encourage all our programs in their accreditation endeavors. To date, 19 undergraduate programs across 7 faculties at our university have achieved accreditation through our scientific and applied studies. For the first time, programs within our Faculty of Sports Sciences have entered the accreditation process. I congratulate our Coaching Education and Physical Education and Sports Teaching Programs. I extend my gratitude to our Dean of the Faculty of Sports Sciences Prof. Dr. Ayla Çetin Dindar, our former dean Prof. Dr. Bilal Demirhan, our Department Heads Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayça Genç and Dr. Murat Çelebi, as well as all our dedicated staff for their contributions to our institutional progress. I also thank the SPORAK Evaluation Team, especially its Chair Prof. Dr. Nimet Haşıl Korkmaz and team members, for their valuable approaches during the site visits and for helping us aim for excellence. Additionally, I express my gratitude to YÖK President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, YÖK members, and Higher Education Quality Board (YÖKAK) President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak and YÖKAK members for their support in our quality-focused efforts."
