Water Purification Applications Conducted as Part of the Outdoor Sports Course
Within the scope of the "Outdoor Sports" course offered at Bartın University Faculty of Sports Sciences, a meaningful event was organized to enhance students' environmental awareness and survival skills in nature.
The activity was held under the coordination of Assist. Prof. Sevim Handan YILMAZ and demonstrated by Research Assistant Ayşe Kübra AKTAŞ, focusing on practical water purification techniques in outdoor settings.
During the event, students received both theoretical and hands-on training on how to filter contaminated water using simple materials and turn it into drinkable water. Participants had the opportunity to build their own purification systems and experience the process firsthand.
Assist. Prof. Sevim Handan YILMAZ emphasized that outdoor sports education improves fosters environmental consciousness and essential life skills. She noted that such practical applications lead to more permanent learning outcomes for students.
At the end of the activity, students expressed that it was both an educational and enjoyable experience and stated their wish for similar events to be organized in the future.
