The special online panel titled "Elite Performance in Sports, National Consciousness, and the Psychology of Success," organized as part of the May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day events, was held with the intense participation of academicians and students. Moderated by Res. Asst. Aslıhan AYGÜNEŞ, one of the faculty members of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, the panel was conducted over the Zoom platform. The first part of the panel focused on the success stories of distinguished academicians who have proudly waved the crescent and star flag in the international arena with their athletic backgrounds and who currently guide sports sciences with their visionary identities. Prof. Dr. Murat KUL, the Dean of Bayburt University Faculty of Sports Sciences and a former World Champion national karateka, shared with the audience both the turning points of his athletic years—where he grew up from the kitchen of the sport—and his current deanship and management experiences. Another name who experienced the spirit of the mat at the highest level, National Athlete and Mersin University Faculty Member Asst. Prof. Mehmet KARA, particularly touched upon his studies in sports psychology, stating that mental toughness is the hidden power behind elite performance, and shared the secrets of building a "golden bridge" between academia and the field. Bringing the spirit of the Olympic podium to the screens of Bartın University, Tokyo 2020 Olympic Silver Medalist, World and European Champion Eray ŞAMDAN conveyed the dedication-requiring processes of his achievements that went down in the history of Turkish karate. In the final stage of the panel, which continued interactively, the questions posed by the students of the Faculty of Sports Sciences were sincerely answered by the guests.
